About Course

Neuropsychologically Informed BCBA Supervision is a 3 BACB CEU training designed for behavior analysts who want supervision to produce more than completed meetings and signed forms. This applied webinar presents supervision as a competency-building and client-protection system, integrating core behavior-analytic practices with a practical understanding of how working memory, attention, cognitive load, executive functioning, stress, and feedback history can affect supervisee performance.

Participants will learn how to translate broad expectations into observable competencies, use Behavioral Skills Training and direct observation effectively, deliver feedback that produces measurable change, strengthen treatment integrity, and document supervisory decisions clearly. The training also addresses difficult supervision patterns, including avoidance, rigid rule-following, overconfidence, poor feedback reception, missed documentation, and performance that breaks down under real-world demands.

Rather than diagnosing or pathologizing supervisees, the course shows supervisors how to adjust teaching and performance-support conditions while maintaining firm ethical, competency, and client-safety standards. Participants will learn practical approaches to competency assessment, feedback, remediation, escalation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the supervision system.

The webinar also includes a brief discussion of individualizing supervisory feedback. Participants will learn how to assess supervisees’ preferences for the timing, setting, and format of feedback and correction, while distinguishing preferred feedback from feedback that actually improves performance. Emphasis is placed on maintaining objective competency, ethical, and client-safety standards while evaluating the effectiveness of feedback through performance data.

This webinar is appropriate for BCBAs supervising trainees, RBTs, BCaBAs, behavior-analytic staff, or other practitioners whose performance directly affects client care.

Format: On-demand webinar
Length: 2 hours, 40 minutes
CEUs: 3 BACB CEUs
Presenter: Dr. Vanetta LaRosa
Audience: BCBAs, BCBA-Ds, clinical supervisors, supervisors of RBTs and BCaBAs, fieldwork supervisors, ABA program directors, and behavior analysts responsible for staff competency and clinical performance

Learning Objectives

  • Explain how supervision functions as an active behavior-change, competency-building, and client-safety system.
  • Convert broad expectations such as professionalism, clinical judgment, treatment integrity, documentation, and feedback reception into observable and measurable supervisee competencies.
  • Apply Behavioral Skills Training, modeling, rehearsal, direct observation, performance feedback, fluency building, and maintenance checks to supervision.
  • Describe how working memory, attention, executive functioning, cognitive load, stress, and feedback history may influence supervisee performance without pathologizing or diagnosing the supervisee.
  • Distinguish among skill deficits, performance deficits, executive-load barriers, implementation problems, and ethical or professional conduct concerns.
  • Modify teaching conditions and supervisory supports to reduce unnecessary cognitive load while maintaining competency, ethical, and client-safety standards.
  • Use direct observation and performance data to evaluate treatment integrity and determine whether supervisory interventions are producing meaningful change.
  • Develop behavior-specific, data-based remediation and escalation plans for supervisees whose performance does not meet established competency or client-safety standards.
